Those who are convicted of continuous violation of traffic rules will no longer be recruited in the police. This is according to the Police Intelligence report that most of those who qualify as police drivers are convicted of drunken driving and speeding. A committee headed by the Battalion ADGP was formed to study the amendments to the Act.

If qualified for the post of Police Constable and Police Driver, the Special Branch will inquire about the candidate. Appointments will not be made if the defendants are in a criminal case. But under the current rules, it does not preclude a person from being convicted of a motor vehicle offense. Received shocking report. All 39 people on the list have been fined more than once for driving under the influence of alcohol and speeding, many of whom have been convicted multiple times.

The head of intelligence pointed to multiple violations of the law by officials. But there is no provision in the Kerala Police Act that appointments cannot be made if the offender is convicted of a motor vehicle violation. As a result, many of the convicts were recruited on the basis of vacancies.

DGP Anil Kant directed that appointments should not be made to those who violate the Motor Law more than three times in this manner. The committee will submit a recommendation to the Government and the PSC for legislation. If the amendment is approved by the government, traffic offenders will no longer be allowed to drive under the law
